Solutions for
the Protective Specialist
The tactics and techniques of the Controlled
F.O.R.C.E. Programs
are designed to improve one’s skill of
safely and effectively controlling an
aggressor as well as controlling oneself in
an aggressive situation.
Even though the protective specialist’s
primary objective is to shield the protectee
from personal threats, it is imperative for
the protective specialist to have the proper
skills to guard themselves from aggression.
The protective specialist’s ability to
prevent personal injury to himself or
herself is vital to his or her ability to
prevent further attack on the protectee.
The Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Programs teach engagement and
reaction techniques that enhance the
protective specialist’s awareness of his or
her own actions when faced by a potential
threat or actual assault. Furthermore,
Controlled F.O.R.C.E. techniques are
extremely effective in small enclosed areas,
giving the protection specialist greater
skill to move a protectee safely and
securely through a crowd. |

Controlled F.O.R.C.E. for Protective
Operations
The United States National Standards of
Training Association has authorized and
approved a series of courses designed
specifically for Protective Operations
through a training cooperative between
Controlled F.O.R.C.E. and At-Risk Protection
& Investigations. What follows is a brief
overview of Controlled F.O.R.C.E. for
Protective Operations, which is an
entry-level course to the U.S.N.S.T.A.
Personal Protection Specialist Program.
Course Overview
The most important aspect of close
protection is proactive planning that will
keep the protectee out of harm’s way. No
plan is perfect, and as a result, efficient
reactive techniques may be necessary.
Controlled F.O.R.C.E. for Protective
Operations was designed to give the
protection specialist the physical skills
that may be needed to engage a hostile
aggressor or just get a protectee through a
crowd unharmed.
Relying on the fundamental basics of
Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 1, the protection
specialist will be trained to address
various types of threats to a protectee by
using the Mechanical Advantage Control Holds
and select Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 2 techniques.
The protection specialist will also gain
improved decision-making skills to quickly
determine whether to remain engaged with an
attacker or break contact and return to his
or her detail. |
