CONTROLLED F.O.R.C.E. DEVELOPS ADVANCED-LEVEL TRAINING PROGRAM

With the Controlled F.O.R.C.E. and Survival F.O.R.C.E. Training Programs  (now Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Levels 1 & 2) securely established in law enforcement and security, the Controlled F.O.R.C.E. development team recognized a need for an advanced system of defensive tactics to enhance officer safety and survival. Working with world-class fighter and professional trainer Pat Miletich (5-Time UFC World Champion and Controlled F.O.R.C.E. National Instructor), the development team has created a system of controlled defense that teaches officers how to survive a combative situation when confronted and attacked by a street-wise or professionally trained assailant. This training program, called Controlled F.O.R.C.E. III: Combative Counter Measures, is designed to flow directly from Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Levels 1 & 2 and back again as the use of force requirements escalate and de-escalate throughout a given situation.

Providing officers with the skills need to defend themselves in a controlled manner in any situation is the ultimate goal of Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 3. "The majority of police officers coming out of college have never been in a fight in their lives," notes Instructor Miletich. "You cannot teach someone like that how to fight as I would fight. You have to teach them how to survive and make sure they get home alive every day to their families." The key to survival is not the kinds of holds you teach, but the transitions and movements between those holds. Miletich explains that "the main thing we teach the [police and military] forces is how to control their own bodies before they can control somebody else’s. There are a lot of instructors who insist on teaching people different moves, which is where they’re making a big mistake. Moves are not important. The transition of movement is what’s important." By utilizing body movement techniques, Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 3 gives officers a framework of skills needed to survive a fight and transition to necessary control measures.

Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 3 is only available to officers certified in Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Levels 1 & 2. To help certified instructors conserve time and resources, we have built re-certification for Levels 1 & 2 into the tuition and training of Level 3. Look for Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Level 3 courses in New Mexico, Nevada, and elsewhere in the coming months.
